Meet Athena, our PALS Haven Pet of the Week!
Athena is an approximately 1 year old, spayed female, Husky; Athena weighs approximately 44lbs, is fully vaccinated, and is microchipped. This beautiful girl is sweet and affectionate, and very people oriented. Athena has definitely gained confidence since we rescued her, and she now very eagerly seeks out interaction with people; just leashing her up may take a few minutes, because she gets so excited to spend time with our volunteers. She is usually pretty mellow and low-key when she’s out in our play yards, but she can be very playful and spunky when the mood strikes her! What she really seems to love though, is just hanging out near us, where she can get lots of belly rubs and kisses! When it comes to hanging out with other dogs, Athena can be particular about who she’ll play with, but she has had successful playdates with several of our dogs, so she might be OK with a fur-sibling with a similar temperament. She knows her basic obedience commands, and walks well on a leash, but we do recommend continued obedience training to help her bond with her new owner, and to help her reach her full K-9 potential!
